EDIX Deluxe 8-pocket half pad Merino

The EDIX Deluxe 8-pocket premium merino wool half pad is an anatomically shaped half pad with 8 insertion pockets, including felt inserts. Compared to the regular Merino half pad (without Deluxe), it differs in its collar. This pad has a merino wool collar along the edge, at the front and back, making the wool much more noticeable while riding/using this pad. Due to the collar, this pad does not have a split at the withers. Just like the Merino half pad, it has short-shorn merino wool along the spine to reduce pressure points even further and provide better protection for the spine.

What is Merino wool:

Merino wool comes from a special breed of sheep, the Merino sheep. This breed has more (thinner) wool hairs per square centimeter of skin. This makes the fleece thicker and less itchy than normal wool. For this product, the fleece and skin are used, so a sheep is slaughtered for this product. It is therefore not sheared wool. The Merino sheepskin has the following properties:

Advantages merino wool pad:

Disadvantages merino wool pad:

No split at the withers; this can be both an advantage and a disadvantage. Depending on your own or your horse's preference.

A sheep is slaughtered for the production of merino wool, so the product is not sheep-friendly
To maintain the benefits of merino wool, a merino wool pad must be washed with merino wool detergent
