Our forage crops store increasing amounts of sugar and fructan during drought and heat. Teff grass, on the other hand, produces a very valuable leaf mass during these conditions. As a result, it remains structurally rich in important nutrients while also remaining low in sugar and fructan. Due to this natural characteristic of Teff grass (Latin: Eragrostis tef), an ancient crop originating from East Africa, Agrobs Teffcobs Low Sugar pellets provide a good and future-proof forage alternative, especially now that summers are becoming increasingly warmer and drier.
Since 2024, Agrobs has been successfully growing Teff grass in the fields of Bavaria. This cultivation is intensive and requires experience, intuition and suitable growing conditions, such as the right soil composition. This makes this particularly valuable forage crop available regionally for the first time. Until now, Teff grass has hardly been used in Europe.

Agrobs Teffcobs Low Sugar are very versatile: from sport horses to senior horses and everything in between. The soft structure of this forage, also known as “love grass”, provides a combination of healthy crude fibre, is naturally virtually starch-free and easily digestible. This makes Teff grass particularly gentle on the (sensitive) horse’s stomach.
In addition, Agrobs Teffcobs Low Sugar are suitable for use in cases of allergies, food intolerances and elimination diets because they consist of only a single ingredient. This can be useful, for example, in cases of sensitivity to alfalfa.
Agrobs Teffcobs Low Sugar are also well tolerated by horses that react sensitively to high doses of calcium, thanks to the optimal calcium-phosphorus ratio. - Teff grass can naturally contain small amounts of synephrine, which positively influences the metabolism. According to the FN and FEI, this substance is relevant to doping regulations. It is therefore recommended to take into account the recommended withdrawal period of your (inter)national equestrian organisation with regard to doping.
Recommended feeding method:
If you are feeding this product for the first time, introduce it slowly and gradually increase the amount.
When supplementing forage, 1 kg of Agrobs Teffcobs Low Sugar replaces 1 kg of hay.
When completely replacing forage, feed approximately 1.5 kg of Agrobs Teffcobs Low Sugar per 100 kg of desired body weight per day. We recommend obtaining individual feeding advice first.
When completely replacing forage, divide the portion over several feedings per day.
Soak 1 kg of Agrobs Teffcobs Low Sugar in 1.5 to 3 litres of water.
One Agrobs feed scoop (1.5 litres) contains an average of approximately 800 grams of Teffcobs.
Agrobs recommends soaking Teffcobs Low Sugar before use.
To meet the necessary vitamin and mineral requirements, Agrobs recommends a vitamin/mineral feed that is suitable for your horse.
